Wendover won by 4 runs
Under 11 match report from Jonathan Seabrook, Wendover CC:
Wendover U11's clinched the Aylesbury League's Play-off Final in a remarkable and dramatic finish by 4 runs. The match at Long Marston CC was played in great spirit and witnessed some outstanding fielding by both teams.
This pairs format game saw Wendover bat first and the opening pair finished on 198 for 3 with Calum Lawson taking 2 wickets. James Bowers 18* and Brandon Ridgley 6* added an undefeated 24 in the next 4 overs to put Wendover in a good position at 222. Some great Cublington fielding inluding 2 run outs caused by direct hits rocked Wendover and after 16 overs, had only crept on to 224. The last pair of Ollie Hogg 9* and Ben Atkins 2* batted safely through and enabled Wendover to post a respectable 242 for 7 off their 20 overs.
Cublington made a sound start in reply with Sam Carter 16, but a fine caught & bowled by James Bowers and another wicket restricted them to 207 after 4 overs. Despite good strokeplay from the next 2 pairs and 14* by Ash, the 40 runs scored counted for little as 6 wickets fell, 2 to superb caught & bowled's by Joseph Glue and Tom Grace. Glue took 2 for 2 and Ben Atkins 3 for 20.
No wickets then fell for 8 overs as 43 were added and Cublington reached 250 at the start of the final over. 4 dot balls and then only 2 wickets would do for Wendover. On the 5th ball, Ollie Hogg grabbed a wicket 'clean bowled' as the score reduced to 244. The tension rose and the final ball produced an identical result - clean bowled! 6 runs were lost and Wendover had won the Cup by 4 runs.

Wendover with the under 11 trophy
Under 11 match report from Colin Rickard, Cublington CC:
Wendover narrowly defeated Cublington off the last ball of a dramatic game to run out winners and ADL U11 champions 2007.
A game of the highest quality, played in the right spirit graced the final with both teams putting in excellent performances in the field in front of a significant crowd at Long Marston. Wendover compiled a steady 242 batting first, James Bowers high scoring with 18 not out. Cublington produced two direct hit run outs, a great catch behind by the keeper and high quality ground fielding that successfully kept the scoring down with their best performance of the season.
In reply Cublington set off strongly with contributions of 16, 14 and 11 from Sam Carter, Jack Ash and Jack Rushmere respectively but appeared to be well behind the run rate with 12 overs gone. A remarkable rally from Alex Inglis and George Lovatt put CCC back in the game and with two balls remaining they were 8 runs in front. To his great credit Ollie Hogg nervelessly bowled the last two balls straight and true to take two wickets in two balls giving Wendover an unlikely victory but one that was richly deserved.

Bledlow Village 145 - 7
Grendon & Westcott 103 - 9

Under 15s
Played at Dinton on Wednesday July 18 2007
Edlesborough 46 all out
Grendon & Westcott 47 - 8
Grendon & Westcott won by 2 wickets
Under 15 match report from Rod Baker, Grendon & Westcott CC:
Despite the best efforts of the poor summer weather both teams turned up in glorious sunshine at the wonderful ground of Dinton for the Under 15 ADL final. The outfield and wicket were both in excellent condition and with both teams having scored some large scores during the season a run feast is what one would have predicted in this final. How wrong can you be?
Edlesborough won the toss and elected to bat but they were soon doubting the wisdom of that decision as the Grendon and Westcott bowlers put them under immense early pressure. Jamie Baker's opening spell of three overs conceded only two runs and Luke Gardiner at the other end took early wickets and his three overs resulted in figures of 3 for 15. However, D Hall hit two good fours and scored 12 runs before he fell to Gardiner. The opening bowlers were replaced by Quassim Zaman with his leg spin and the medium pace of Ed Couzens. Both bowlers took a wicket each and Ed finished up with figures of 1 for 1 off his three overs. At the half way mark in their 20 overs Edlesborough were 32 runs for 4 wickets.
The pressure from the Grendon and Westcott bowlers was maintained when Harry Dalton and Dan Whitbread came on to bowl and Harry took 3 for 8 in two overs and Dan 2 for 2 in 1.5 overs. The final total for Edlesborough was 46 all out with top scorer D Hall on 12 runs. So the Grendon and Westcott team had successfully completed the first part of their task. However, they were soon to discover that the Edlesborough team was not going to give in easily.
The opening pair for Grendon and Westcott was soon in trouble. A wicket fell on just then third ball as Luke Gardiner tried to hit a full toss from J Kight away and was caught. Jamie Baker then hit a flurry of powerful fours but himself was caught in the fourth over having scored 15 with the score on 17. Thanks to Quassim Zaman and Tom Cook the score moved onto 30 for 2 before they were both out without any addition to the score. Further wickets tumbled as the Edlesborough bowlers continued to bowl a good line and length, with the leg spin of T Howard causing problems for the batsmen as he took 3 for 9 in three overs. The score slowly moved on to 41 for 8; still 6 runs to go and only two wickets left. Ed Couzens and George Dalton were now at the wicket and with some steady batting the score slowly crept towards the target. The pressure was clearly being felt by both sides as some wides from the bowlers also aided the Grendon and Westcott scoreline. Finally the scores were level and a nice cover drive from Ed allowed the winning run to be taken.
This turned out to be a very low scoring match but a very exciting one! Both managers were nervous wrecks by the end of the game but credit to both sides for a splendid game of cricket which was played in a great spirit.
